Code of Ethics & Inclusivity
Everyone belongs on our dance floor. Here's the promise we make to you.
Latin dance is, at its heart, about connection, joy and community. Above all, we are committed to providing a safe and welcoming place for everyone. We want every single person who walks through the door — first-timers and seasoned dancers alike — to feel safe, respected, and free to simply enjoy the music. This page is our commitment to you, and a gentle guide to how we look after one another.
Everyone is welcome here
Our classes and social nights are open to people of every age, background, body, ability, gender, sexual orientation, race, culture, faith and level of experience. You do not need a partner, prior training, or a certain kind of body to belong here. Come exactly as you are — curiosity and kindness are the only requirements.
How we treat one another
- Everyone dances by choice. Asking someone to dance is lovely — and "no thank you" is always a complete and respected answer, from anyone, for any reason. No explanation is ever owed.
- We respect personal space and boundaries. Everyone gets to decide what kind of contact, closeness and style of dancing feels right for them, and that can change from song to song.
- We look out for beginners. We were all new once. Patience, encouragement and good humour are part of the culture here — never judgement.
- We keep it kind. Harassment, unwanted advances, discrimination, or making anyone feel small or unsafe have no place in our community.
If something doesn't feel right
Your comfort matters more to us than any lesson, any song, or any social convention. If anyone in our community — including one of our own instructors — ever says or does something that makes you feel uncomfortable, unsafe, or simply not okay, please tell us. You will always be listened to, taken seriously, and treated with discretion and care. You never have to explain or justify how you feel, and speaking up will never affect how you're welcomed here.
You can reach Paul directly and confidentially, whichever way feels easiest:
- 💬 WhatsApp or text: +52 612 198 9190
- ✉️ Email: paul@bcslatindance.com
- 📝 Or quietly through our contact form
If you'd rather raise something on behalf of a friend, or mention it in passing after class, that's completely okay too. However it reaches us, we'll handle it thoughtfully.
Our promise back to you
We promise to hold ourselves to the same standard we ask of everyone else — to listen without defensiveness, to act on concerns rather than brush them aside, and to keep this a place where people feel good about coming back week after week. A dance community is only as warm as the way its people are treated, and we intend to keep ours very warm indeed.
Thank you for helping us keep this a place where everyone can dance freely. 💃🕺
