What goes down on a Tuesday

Every Tuesday night, La Tuna in La Ventana transforms into the best Latin dance venue in Baja California Sur. Salsa Paul gets people warmed up with a salsa lesson from 5:15–6:00 PM, then Maceo Limonte sings till 8:30 while Paul DJs between sets.

The full evening

  • Arrive at 5:00 PM — find a spot, grab a drink, settle in.
  • 5:15 PM — Salsa lesson on the beach stage. A focused 45-minute group class. All levels welcome, no partner required.
  • Live music with Maceo Lamonte — La Ventana's beloved Latin singer brings the energy with classics and crowd favorites. Follow Maceo on Facebook →
  • Salsa Paul on deck between sets — live DJ mixing to keep the floor moving.
  • Up to 150 guests on a typical night — locals, expats, kiteboarders, and tourists — with 20 to 40 dancers on the floor.

About La Tuna

La Tuna is one of the best beach bars in La Ventana — right on the most popular kiteboarding beach in Baja California Sur. The food is incredible, the staff are warm and welcoming, and the setting is unbeatable: open-air, ocean breeze, and the kind of vibe you only find in a small Baja town that knows what it's doing.

Highly recommended: the tostadas and the curricanas. Come hungry — you won't leave disappointed.

Why it works

It's not a club. It's not a tourist trap. It's a real beach bar with a real community — kiteboarders winding down from the wind, locals catching up with neighbors, expats sharing tables with travelers. The 5:15 class warms everyone up, and by the time Maceo starts singing, the floor is electric.

That's the kind of night you don't expect to find in a small Baja town — and it's exactly why people come back every week.

First time at La Tuna?

Here's everything you need to know:

  • You don't need a partner — bring yourself, the floor will take care of you
  • You don't need to know how to dance — that's what the 5:15 class is for
  • Wear something you can move in — closed-toe shoes or dance sneakers recommended
  • Cash (Pesos or USD) is helpful — food, drinks, and tips are welcomed for the lesson and Maceo's great singing
  • Come early — arrive at 5:00 to settle in before class starts at 5:15
  • The tostadas and curricanas are not to be missed
  • Come with a smile — the crowd will do the rest
